Edgar’s Baby – Description:
Edgar’s Baby produces solid green buds that open into elegant white flowers, and is a reliable mid-season to late-season variety. It is self-sterile and requires cross-pollination, performing best when paired with strong undatus pollen.
The fruit displays firm pinkish-purple flesh with green skin, and typically ripens in 30–35 days from flower. Our first fruit weighed an impressive 500g, and we expect larger fruit as the plant matures.
Skin thickness: approx. 3mm
Bud months: December, January, February, March, April
Taste:
A beautifully refreshing balance of sweet and tangy, often compared to a juicy raspberry.
One NSW grower describes the flavour as having a delicious lychee vibe with tropical undertones, noting that the fruit gets even better after the plant’s third year.
The flesh is firm, visually striking, and loaded with crunchy, poppy seeds that add a pleasant texture.
