Dark Star – Purple-Fleshed Dragon Fruit

Dark Star is a striking hybrid dragon fruit variety created by Paul Thompson (10-S), derived from Hylocereus guatemalensis × Hylocereus undatus. It produces medium to large fruit, typically ranging from 600 g up to 1 kg, making it an impressive option for both backyard growers and serious collectors.

The fruit features deep purple flesh with a darker pink-toned skin, which is likely how this variety earned its name. Dark Star develops a thick rind and firm flesh, offering excellent handling qualities and good eating texture.

Dark Star is self-sterile and requires cross-pollination to set fruit. Flowering generally occurs across November and December under South East Queensland conditions.

Care: 

Plant into an excellent quality potting mix to a depth of 2-3 cm
