Come WWOOF With Us at Our Agnes Water Dragon Fruit Farm
Come and experience life on a spray-free, family-run dragon fruit farm in beautiful Agnes Water, Queensland. At Rare Dragon Fruit, we grow over 150 varieties of dragon fruit using regenerative, low-input methods that work with nature, not against it.
WWOOFing with us is about more than lending a hand — it’s about learning how food is grown in challenging sandy soil, understanding subtropical growing systems, sharing meals, stories and skills, and being part of a small farming family that values curiosity, community and sustainability.
You’ll be involved in hands-on tasks such as planting, pruning, trellising, hand pollination, harvesting, seed saving and general farm care, all while learning the why behind what we do. Whether you’re new to growing food or already passionate about plants, we love sharing knowledge and learning alongside our WWOOFers.
If you’re keen to slow down, get your hands dirty, eat well, and experience a unique slice of Queensland life — we’d love to welcome you to our farm.

How WWOOF Australia Works
WWOOF Australia has been connecting people with organic farms and sustainable growing projects across the country since 1981. The program brings together WWOOF Hosts and WWOOF Volunteers (WWOOFers) through a simple membership system that’s built on trust, learning, and shared values.
What is WWOOF?
WWOOF stands for Willing Workers On Organic Farms. It’s a global movement that allows volunteers to experience sustainable living and organic farming while helping hosts with day-to-day tasks.
How the Exchange Works
WWOOFers volunteer 4–6 hours per day, with a maximum of 38 hours over 7 days. In return, hosts provide:
-
Food
-
Accommodation
-
Hands-on learning experiences
There’s no money exchanged between hosts and volunteers — instead, the exchange is based on learning, cultural sharing, and mutual respect.
Benefits for Hosts
Hosting WWOOFers offers more than just an extra pair of hands. Hosts gain:
-
Help with seasonal and daily tasks
-
The opportunity to share skills and knowledge
-
Cultural exchange and fresh perspectives
-
Meaningful connections with people from Australia and around the world
Benefits for WWOOFers
WWOOFers get:
-
Practical, real-world experience in organic and sustainable farming
-
A deeper understanding of different lifestyles and cultures
-
The chance to slow down, unplug, and learn by doing
-
Affordable travel while contributing positively to the places they visit
WWOOF’s Mission
WWOOF is a worldwide movement linking volunteers with organic farmers and growers to promote cultural and educational experiences based on trust and non-monetary exchanges, helping to build a sustainable global community.
At its heart, WWOOF is about building connections — between people, food, land, and culture — while supporting a more sustainable future.
