Growing Whole Harvest Farms with support from Startupbootcamp

Whole Harvest Farms began with a question: how can we help local farmers get more value from the food they’ve worked so hard to grow?

As growers ourselves, we know every harvest represents months of care, water, labour and investment. When fruit is surplus to demand or doesn’t meet appearance specifications, finding a buyer can be difficult, even when it’s delicious and suitable to eat.

We’re developing Whole Harvest Farms to give that produce another opportunity.

Turning surplus into something delicious

Our vision is a mobile food-processing service that brings equipment closer to farms, helping turn suitable surplus fruit into dried snacks, frozen pulp, jams and syrups.

We want to create products that celebrate local harvests and tell the stories of the people who grow them. For customers, that means a closer connection to their food. For farmers, it means an opportunity to earn more from each crop.

Support to bring our idea to life

Support from Startupbootcamp is helping us develop the business behind that vision, with mentoring, guidance and connections as we work towards bringing Whole Harvest Farms to life.

The Australian-Grown Innovation program, delivered by Startupbootcamp and Cluster Connect in partnership with Hort Innovation, supports growers and horticulture businesses in turning practical ideas into commercially viable products and services.

Its focus includes value-added products, resilience and better supply chains, challenges that matter directly to small farms like ours.

Having access to business experience alongside our farming knowledge is helping us think through how this service can work for growers and their communities.

Returning nutrients to the farm

Our plans go beyond rescuing edible fruit.

Suitable scraps from processing would feed worm farms, creating nutrient-rich fertiliser to deliver back to participating farms. Those nutrients can then support the next harvest, keeping more value within the local growing cycle.

From fruit to food products, and from scraps back to the soil, we want to make better use of the whole harvest.
