(Garcinia xanthochymus)
Yellow Mangosteen produces striking round fruit with bright yellow, very tart segments. Due to its high acidity, the fruit is excellent for jams, jellies, and preserves, although removing the thick skin and large seed can be time-consuming.
This species is much easier to grow in subtropical climates than the well-known purple mangosteen, though the flavour profile is completely different. The tree is highly ornamental, featuring large drooping evergreen leaves and an attractive layered growth habit. When in fruit, the 8–10 cm yellow fruit look particularly decorative on the tree.
Yellow Mangosteen pairs beautifully with Miracle Fruit, which helps reduce acidity and enhances its unique tropical flavours.
🌱 Grown at Rare Dragon Fruit from seed collected locally in Agnes Water, QLD.
