Description:
The pineapple ( is a tropical fruit plant with striking flowers and delicious fruit. Even before fruiting, the plant is worth growing for its unique and colourful flowering display, which later develops into the pineapple fruit.

Pineapples belong to the bromeliad family, and like other bromeliads they have small root systems and rely on well-drained conditions rather than deep soil. These hardy plants are easy to grow and require very little maintenance once established.

A pineapple plant typically produces one fruit every two years, after which the plant will often produce new shoots or pups that can be replanted to grow more pineapples.

Pineapples grow well in garden beds, food forests, or containers, making them a great option for tropical and subtropical gardens.
