Description:
A striking variety produced by Paul Thomson of California, known for its dark red flesh and reddish-orange fins. This plant produces medium-sized fruit and blooms with an amazing flower.
H.polyrhizus X guatemalensis
It performs best when cross-pollinated, as it is self-sterile and relies on compatible pollen for strong fruit set.
Buds typically appear in November, making it an early-season bloomer.
In 2023, this variety experienced significant rot, but impressively continued to grow.
Only the fleshy outer layer of the branches was affected; once the rot was cut back to the hard woody core, the plant resumed healthy growth and fruit production — demonstrating excellent resilience.
