Cucuzza is a traditional Italian heirloom gourd known for its impressive long fruits—growing up to 1 metre in length and around 75mm thick.
When grown over a trellis or patio, the fruits hang down and develop long and straight. If left to sprawl along the ground, they take on more twisted, snake-like shapes—each one completely unique.
The young fruits are the real prize 🌿
Harvest at 15–25cm long for the best eating quality—tender, mild, and perfect for soaking up flavours in your cooking.
If left too long, the flesh becomes woody and better suited for decorative use.
