Connie Mayer (XXL purple)- H. Undatus X H.stenopterus German Dragon Fruit-
It is one of three hybrid clones created by German hybridizer Eckhard Meier. His other hybrids were Kathy Van Arum and Bruni.
Amazing flower from purple to light pink a true night flower opens at dusk and closes by dawn.
This flower is excellent dried for tea.
The flesh is Pearl white
The skin stays green, ripe approx. 30 days from flowering
Self-sterile requires x- pollination and does like pink panthers pollen to set fruit.
One drawback of the Connie Mayer variety is that it is self-sterile, meaning it requires pollen from a different variety to set fruit. However, it can successfully fruit when cross-pollinated with varieties that don't carry the stenopterus gene.
With diversity of plant multiple varieties we have had this plant set fruit with no hand pollination in rainy weather
Can be suspectable to rust at the start of winter
Small fruit 200g- 400g
