3 Bare-Rooted Sprouted Coconut
Coconut palms are one of the most recognisable plants of the tropics, bringing an iconic beachside look to gardens and landscapes.
The coconut (technically the endocarp of a drupe, not a true nut) is used around the world in cooking, cosmetics, textiles, cleaning products, and even potting mixes.
Although generally easy to grow, coconut palms are sensitive to cold. They will not tolerate frost or extended periods of single-digit temperatures.
The furthest south we have seen coconuts growing successfully is Woolgoolga (near Coffs Harbour) in a sheltered microclimate. Most coastal Queensland regions grow them well as long as conditions remain frost-free.
Coconut palms also prefer drier conditions during cooler months and dislike being wet and soggy during winter.

Coconut palms are well adapted to coastal conditions, tolerating strong winds, salt spray, and seaside exposure.
Coconut palms are tall feature trees, often reaching 10 metres or more in warm climates. Because of their tall trunk and canopy structure, they are not suitable as screening plants once mature.
Generally pest-free but may occasionally attract:
Mealybugs
Scale insects
Aphids
These are usually easy to manage.
During cold, wet weather, problems such as damping off or collar rot can occur if plants remain too wet.
