Orange Dwarf Dragon fruit- Hylocereus megalanthus x H. polyrhizus

Orange Dwarf Dragon Fruit

Orange Dwarf is a truly unique and rare dragon fruit variety, best suited to collectors and backyard growers who appreciate flavour over productivity. Producing small, striking fruit, it closely reflects its Colombian yellow parentage and stands out with its unusual colouring and early flowering habit.

The fruit develops soft spines while growing, which naturally drop away as it ripens. Plants have thin branches and a slower growth rate compared to commercial varieties. While the plant can be prone to fungal issues, attentive care is rewarded with exceptional fruit quality.

Featuring orange skin with vibrant purple-red flesh, Orange Dwarf is visually stunning and was the first dragon fruit to flower in the 2024 season, making it an exciting early-season performer. Due to its slower growth and disease sensitivity, this variety is not recommended for commercial production, but it truly shines in private collections and specialty gardens.
