Connie Mayer Dragon Fruit - H. Undatus X H.stenopterus

Connie Mayer – White-Fleshed Dragon Fruit

Connie Mayer is one of three hybrid clones created by German hybridiser Eckhard Meier, alongside Kathy Van Arum and Bruni. This variety is best known for its spectacular night-blooming flowers, which range from deep purple to soft light pink. Flowers open at dusk and close by dawn and are also highly valued when dried for tea.

The fruit has pearl-white flesh, while the skin remains green when ripe, maturing approximately 30 days after flowering. Fruit size is generally small to medium, averaging 200–400 g.

Connie Mayer is self-sterile and requires cross-pollination to set fruit. It performs particularly well when pollinated with Pink Panther–type pollen or other varieties that do not carry the stenopterus gene. In diverse plantings, we have observed successful fruit set without hand pollination, even during rainy conditions.

This variety may be susceptible to rust at the start of winter, so good airflow and seasonal monitoring are recommended.

Flowering period: Very early to flower and extremely heavy fruiter.
