Delight produces medium to large fruit, averaging around 370g, with beautifully soft light-pink flesh. This variety was a favourite of Paul Thompson (3-S), a well-known San Diego hybridiser from the early 1980s.
A vigorous grower with strong structure, Delight is suitable for both commercial production and backyard growers. It is generally considered self-pollinating, as listed by Spicy Exotics, Daleys Fruit Trees, and our original supplier. However, some Australian growers—including Richard Le (Grafting Dragon Fruit)—suggest it may perform better with cross-pollination.
It can be somewhat rust sensitive, particularly during seasonal transitions.
The plant produces a white flower and takes approximately 41 days from flower to harvest. It shows good tolerance to both heat and cold.
