AX Dragon Fruit – Hylocereus stenopterus × Hylocereus guatemalensis

Description:
AX Dragon Fruit is a new hybrid variety first fruiting heavily in 2025, after being planted in 2023. This interesting variety comes from a cross between Hylocereus stenopterus and Hylocereus guatemalensis and is part of the Asunta breeding line created by hybridizer Edgar Valdivia.

The name AX comes from “Asunta Cross”, referring to its lineage within the Asunta range. It is believed to be related to Asunta 1 or 2 crossed with the Condor variety.

This plant produces striking purple-pink flowers and large fruit with deep purple flesh and green skin. Because the skin remains green when ripe, it can sometimes be difficult to judge harvest timing. A helpful method is to record the night the flower opens and harvest approximately 60 days later.

AX is a self-sterile variety and requires cross-pollination to produce fruit. Do not x with any other purple flowers
