Phoenix Dragon Fruit Plant

🌵 Phoenix Red Dragon Fruit

New Variety – 2023 | First fruit January 2025

Phoenix Red is an exciting new hybrid dragon fruit variety showing excellent promise in Australian conditions. It flowers early and continues producing consistently throughout the season, making it a great option for both backyard growers and small-scale producers.

The plant displays good growth and vigour. While it can occasionally show signs of rust, it recovers well without intervention, making it a resilient choice for warm, humid climates.

The fruit is visually striking, with red skin and deep purple flesh, and a firm texture that holds up well for fresh eating.

🍇 Flavour Profile

Phoenix Red offers a sweet, very juicy flavour with noticeable grape-like notes. What sets it apart is its flavour contrast — slightly tangy near the skin, becoming sweeter toward the centre, a difference that’s far more pronounced than in many other dragon fruit varieties.

With a Brix of 17.8, it delivers a balanced eating experience that combines both sweetness and a refreshing sour edge.
