I always get asked this question… HOW MANY KG OF FRUIT DOES A DRAGON FRUIT PLANT PRODUCE?!
Truth is… I hate answering it, because there’s no simple answer! The yield depends on the variety, age of the plant, trellis system, and growing conditions.
Here’s a rough guide:
✨ Young plants (2–3 years old): 5–15 kg per season
✨ Mature plants (4–6 years old): 20–40 kg per season
✨ Well-managed older plants (6+ years): 40–60 kg per season, and in very intensive systems some can reach 100 kg!
🍓 Fruit is picked over 5–6 flushes per season, so harvest comes in waves.
🍓 And keep in mind — fruit size matters too! Some varieties produce fruit as small as 200 g, while others can grow massive fruit up to 1.5 kg each.
So the next time someone asks, the answer is: “It depends!” 😉
