Melt & Pour Dragon Fruit Soap Recipe

Learn how to make this easy melt-and-pour soap using real dragon fruit! This simple recipe creates a naturally coloured bar with gentle exfoliation from dragon fruit seeds — a fun and nourishing addition to your zero-waste routine.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Stephenson Melt & Pour Soap Base
  • 1 x Silicone Mould
  • 50 ml Fragrance Oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dragon fruit puree
  • Rubbing Alcohol (in a Spray Bottle)

Tools:

  • Melting Jug
  • Thermometer
  • Electric Weighing Scale
  • Rubber Spatula
  • Sharp Knife
  • Chopping Board
  • Weigh out 600g of soap base for six 100g soap bars. This filled a Kmart mini muffin tray (12) with some left over

    Instructions:

    • Step 1: Melt the Soap Base
    • Place the measured soap base into microwave in short bursts of 20–30 seconds, stirring between bursts to avoid overheating.
    • Step 3: Preparethe Dragon Fruit puree see recipe for this on page
    • Measure 2tablespoons of thick
    • (Optional) Measure 1 teaspoon of poppyseeds for extra exfoliation and ascetics
    • Step 3: Incorporate Dragon Fruit into Melted Soap
    • Once thesoap base is fully melted, gently stir in the 2tablespoons of dragon fruit puree.
    • Stir slowly and evenly to distribute without creating bubbles.
    • Step 5: Monitor the Temperature
    • Let the soap base cool slightly below the flashpoint for fragranceoils (usually below 60°C)to preserve the scent.
    • Step 6: Add the Fragrance Oil
    • Once slightly cooled, place your jug on thescale.
    • Add 12g fragrance Oil (2% of 600g soap base),Stir gently but thoroughly for about 30seconds.
    • Step 7: Pour Into the Mould
    • Carefully pour the scented, dragon fruit-infused soap into the mould cavities.
    • Pour slowlytoavoid air bubbles and to fill the detailed mould evenly.
    • Step 8: Eliminate Surface Bubbles
    • Lightly spray thetop of the soap with 99% rubbing alcohol immediatelyafter pouring.
    • This will pop surface bubbles and create a smooth finish.
    • Step 9: Set and Unmould
    • Allow the soap to set at room temperature forat least 45 minutes.
    • Once hardened, gently pull the sides of the silicone mould away and press underneath to release the soap bars.
