Dragon fruit soap is a beautiful, tropical-inspired soap that blends nourishment with gentle exfoliation.
Ingredients:
200g Olive Oil
250g Coconut Oil
50g Cocoa Butter
10g Essential Oil of your choice
50g Pureed Dragon Fruit
100g Distilled Water
72g Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda)
Instructions:
Prepare your workspace:Set up your soap making area with gloves, goggles, and a well-ventilated space.
Make the lye water: Carefully add the sodium hydroxide to the distilled water (never the other way around), stirring until fully dissolved. Allow to cool to about 35–40°C.
Melt your oils:Gently melt the olive oil, coconut oil and cocoa butter together.
Combine oils and lye water: Once both the lye water and oils are around the same temperature (35–40°C), slowly pour the lye water into the oils and blend with a stick blender until light trace (thin pudding consistency) forms.
Optional:Add color and scent: Blend in the mica (if using) and lime essential oil.
Add the fruit puree:Gently stir in the pureed dragon fruit mixture. Avoid over-blending to preserve fruit texture.
Pour into molds:Transfer the soap batter into your prepared mold. Tap gently to remove any air bubbles. we decorated our with some dried dragon fruit flowers.
Cure the soap:Cover and let sit for 24–48 hours. Once firm, remove from the mold and slice into bars. Cure the bars in a dry, ventilated area for 4–6 weeks before use
Notes:
Using fresh fruit can increase the risk of spoilage if not fully cured. Always ensure a long cure time.
