Vanilla Bean Orchid – Vanilla planifolia
Description
A beautiful climbing orchid vine that can be grown indoors in cooler southern climates or outdoors in warmer subtropical and tropical regions.
Vanilla grows much like an orchid and prefers warm, humid conditions with filtered light. It is a vigorous grower during the warmer months and will naturally slow or stop growing during winter before resuming again in spring.
Vanilla flowers require hand pollination to produce vanilla pods.
Taste
Fresh vanilla pods have a rich, sweet flavour that is far more aromatic and complex than most store-bought vanilla.
