Nias Yellow Dwarf Coconut Palm – Cocos nucifera

Add colour and tropical character to your garden with the distinctive Nias Yellow Dwarf Coconut Palm. Originating from Indonesia, this attractive coconut variety is valued for its golden-yellow fruit, yellow-toned leaf stems and compact growth compared with traditional tall coconut palms.

Under suitable growing conditions, dwarf coconuts generally begin flowering and producing fruit earlier than tall varieties. Young coconuts can be harvested for refreshing coconut water, while mature coconuts develop edible white flesh.

Please remember that “dwarf” is relative—a mature coconut palm will still become a substantial tree and requires plenty of permanent growing space.

Growing your Nias Yellow Coconut

Plant in a warm, sunny position with excellent drainage and enough room for the palm’s mature canopy. Water regularly while establishing and during hot or dry weather, but avoid waterlogged soil.

Coconut palms benefit from organic matter, mulch and regular feeding during active growth. Keep mulch away from the trunk and protect young plants from frost and cold winds.
