Ferris NOID Dragon Fruit – Selenicereus sp.
Description:
Ferris NOID is a unique dragon fruit variety discovered growing up a tree on an old property in Sunshine Beach, Queensland. The original mother plant has since been removed during housing renovations that followed the COVID building boom, making this variety a small piece of local growing history that continues on through propagation.
This fast-growing and self-pollinating dragon fruit produces attractive fruit with red-purple skin, green fins, and pearl white flesh with a light pink blush near the skin. The fruit has a thicker skin, which helps protect it during handling and gives it a strong visual contrast when cut open.
Ferris NOID is a small to medium fruiting variety, with the first-year fruit around 200 g. As the plant matures, fruit size has already increased to around 400–550 g in the second year, and we expect fruit size to continue improving as the plant becomes more established.
