Ruby Salt Bush (Enchylaena Tomentosa)


Description:


A widespread species in semi-arid and dry regions of Australia

It's a tiny shrub with grey leaves that grows to around 1 metre 

It isn't frequently grown as a groundcover but can make a good addition to a garden in a dry environment and create a fantastic green mulch 

Drought and cold-resistant, and salt tolerant, it prefers light to heavy soil in an open position.

Taste:

Produces soft, delicious ruby red berries with a diameter of 6-8 mm. When eaten raw or soaked in water to produce a sweet drink, the fruits are pleasant to eat and make a sweet, juicy snack meal. They can also be dehydrated and reconstituted at a later time.

Will grow in a wide range of soils and will thrive in poor soils
