Organic Sunn Hemp- Crotalaria juncea 50g Green manure

Description:

Sunn Hemp – Crotalaria juncea

Sunn Hemp is one of the fastest growing legumes known, making it an excellent plant for soil improvement, green manure, and cover cropping.

The name “Sunn Hemp” comes from its bright yellow flowers and its historical use as a source of fibre similar to hemp.

It is an upright, branching annual summer legume that grows rapidly with a strong taproot and extensive root system.

Under favourable warm and wet conditions, Sunn Hemp can reach:

  • Over 1.2 metres in 60 days

  • Over 1.8 metres in around 90 days

Sunn Hemp does not self-seed easily, making it a low weed risk in the garden.

This hardy plant is drought tolerant, fast growing, and an excellent nitrogen fixer, helping to improve soil fertility naturally.

It is also known to help reduce soil pests and diseases, including:

  • Cereal Cyst Nematode (CCN)

  • Root Lesion Nematodes (RLN)

  • Rhizoctonia

  • Take-all disease

Sunn Hemp is very adaptable and grows well in a wide range of soil conditions.
