Cosmic Charlie is a bright purple-fleshed dragon fruit variety known for its excellent flavour and good fruit production.
Cosmic Charlie is widely believed to be the same plant as 2S (sometimes written S2). The designation 2S refers to a seedling selection created by breeder Paul Thomson, and it is referenced in his book Pitahaya: A Promising New Fruit Crop. The seedling originated from a cross between Rixford, a purple-fleshed pitaya, and Niezel (also sometimes written Niesel or Moselle in various sources), a white-fleshed pitaya. Because 2S was originally identified by a seedling code rather than a commercial name, it was later distributed by some growers under the name Cosmic Charlie, which is why many growers now consider them to be the same variety.
Self-sterile – requires cross-pollination

Fruit size: Typically 300–600 g, but can reach 500–700 g when hand pollinated

Growth: Slightly slower-growing variety

This variety produces strikingly coloured fruit and is a favourite among collectors and growers looking for strong flavour and vibrant flesh.

Care:
Plant into an excellent quality potting mix to a depth of 2-3 cm
