Description:
Desert King Depot is a hybrid of Selenicereus megalanthus × polyrhizus, planted in late 2023, with its first flowers appearing in December 2024 and its first fruit harvested in May 2025.
This version is self-fertile and produces fruit with purple flesh and orange skin, maintaining the classic Desert King colour profile.
Compared to other Desert King lines, the Depot version is a slower grower and shows noticeable sensitivity to both cold and heat, making placement and microclimate especially important.
Despite this, it remains a highly sought-after variety for both home growers and commercial farms due to its excellent fruit quality.
We are currently growing several Desert King variations from different global suppliers, each displaying distinct growth habits and characteristics.
This particular version was given to us by a NSW dragon fruit enthusiast, with the overall Desert King line originating from Israel.
