Red Fox is an exciting Australian-bred dragon fruit variety, released in 2023 and first fruited in December 2024. It produces striking red–pink skin with fresh green fins and vibrant pink–purple flesh, delivering both visual impact and exceptional eating quality.
This variety was developed in Nangō, Queensland, by Bernice Danahay, who also created the well-known Aztec Gem. The name Red Fox was chosen as her final release before retiring from the industry, making this cultivar a meaningful and collectable addition for growers.
Red Fox produces large fruit averaging around 700 g, features a thick skin (~8 mm) suited to handling and transport, and flowers with a classic large white bloom. It is self-pollinating, making it a reliable option for both backyard growers and commercial plantings.
Growers may also recognise this variety from the Courier Mail feature on the Red Fox Pitaya Farm, highlighting its development and potential.
